How is life treating you? I am doing well, and I am hoping that we get to meet soon. I want to bring you up to date on what is currently unfolding in my life. As you know, I’m an international student, under a scholarship at the Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta, Indonesia. One boring afternoon, I applied for a conference organized by Harvard University (Harvard Project for Asian and International Relations).
Believing how academic growth should progressively be sought for, I wanted to be part of this gathering of the best minds in the world where real and currently-faced issues are to be discussed with fervor. A few weeks, after I thought I did not get in, as the process was very difficult and competitive, I received my letter of acceptance. This coming August 17-21, I will be flying to Sydney, Australia to step up and represent the best of minds of our country to this academic forum. It will not only be an experience that will benefit my academic career but it will also serve as training where minds will be sharpened and ideas will be challenged.
As understood, the opportunity is grand but the cost is just so staggering, I thought of declining. But as they say, you can’t simply give up without putting up a hell of an amazing campaign. Thus, I launched this crowdfunding campaign. I need to develop a financial sponsorship team: a group of people who will help me attend the conference. My total need is Php. 80,000.00 (Transportation, Registration, Visa Processing, Accommodation, and Food).
